50th Anniversary Press Kit

In 2013, the Portland Japanese Garden will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of special programs, events, and exhibitions. As a work of art in and of itself, the Portland Japanese Garden is a natural vehicle for teaching about Japanese art and design. What is more, the Garden’s location on the Pacific Rim makes it ideally situated to become the focal point of an international dialogue on garden design, architecture, art and music. The culture, art, and education programs of the Garden bridge East and West, tradition and modernity.

Anniversary events will be ongoing throughout 2013, but even as the 50th Anniversary year begins to unfold, the Garden staff is hard at work looking toward the next 50 years. This is an exciting and important time for the Portland Japanese Garden.
